Ramblin' bout Tuneage: Fresh Maggots, Can dvd, Zappa and The Mothers on youtube 1968!!!!!!

Ramblin' bout Tuneage!!

Fresh Maggots: Fresh Maggots (1971) This blew me away! Beautiful folky psych fuzzy guitar, great singing...very listenable album...strange name for the band...makes you think of darkness, grime [aside: and we all know there's nothing wrong with that!], but this is anything but. Highly recommended!

Watched the free concert from 1972 portion of the Can dvd, and there were portions in there that were truly sublime. When these guys hook onto a groove they don't let go, and explore all the brilliance inherent in that groove. Loved it. The parts with the kid in the studio playing the instruments while the Can guys focused seriously on him was a little weird. The juggler was pretty cool, as was the Saw musician. Quite the performance! I'm looking forward to watching the documentaries on it next.

I've been listening to the Complete Lost Lennon Tapes, and am thoroughly enjoying it. He's my fav Beatle, closely followed by George.

Gomorrha - I Turned To See Whose Voice It Was (1972) and dug the heavy electric prog. Hard krautrock! Yeeha!!

I can't help continue raving about Les Rallizes Denudes...imagine Acid Mothers taking on The Velvets in a duel for supremacy. One of my top 5 bands at this moment in time.

Listening to Tim Buckley's "The First Starsailor Gig" live in San Anselmo October 1970, and it's pretty wild! Tim fronting The Mothers of Invention and absolutely wailing away...great stuff!

"I wanna go to New Yawk city cause they tell me it's the place for me" - The Demics. Finally...got this classic Canadian song!

Question of the Minute

What are my fav bands at this moment??

Hum...Can maybe. It's hard not to include The Velvets or The Stooges. Les Rallizes Denudes. Neil Y, Zappa and The Captain are always near the top. Funkadelic?

Damn.

There's too many to narrow it down. Now, that's a pleasant dilemma to have!!

Check this out! Frank Zappa and The Mothers of Invention on the BBC in 1968 doing "In the Sky" with Roy Estrada on lead vocals. thanks jonesinn905

Poetry: Sex Poem & Ralph

Sex Poem

the butterfly

inner mysteries
&&&&&&&&&&&&&

Ralph

I’m so lonely
I’ve been thinking of

suicide

recently john
like maybe not seriously
but it’s crossed my mind

I’m so fucking lonely

john
I’ve never been this lonely

I’m a nice guy
why do people hate me so much
I get so frustrated
john

I mean
I’m thinking of

suicide

like I said
maybe not
seriously
but still

I’m so fucking lonely
there’s nothing to do
in this town
john

I’m so goddamn lonely

“dude, after talking to you,
I feel fucking lonely too!!!”

We were living without water for 6 days - it sure makes you appreciate our plumbing system once you have to do without. Fuck!! We're a spoiled society!! They got it fixed and now the kitchen sink tap broke off!! Oh well - life goes on...

Random Musical Thoughts

Pete Townshend's "Lifehouse Chronicles" disc 1 was pretty fucking great! I've always loved Pete's demos. Thanks Brant!

Les Rallizes Denudes continue to rock my world.

I really dug R.L. Burnsides "Wish I Was In Heaven Sitting Down" (2000) Great combination of classic blues in fused with modern technology.

I received my Can dvd from amazoni!!! In fact - I think I'm ready to set up a comfortable chair in front of the computer upstairs (bigger monitor!) and delve into the world of Can!!! See ya!!

Not much else to say today - I'm working hard to stave off the evil D.
